A collection of information about body cameras as it relates to the shooting of Breonna Taylor

2020.10.01 04:21 MarionSwing A collection of information about body cameras as it relates to the shooting of Breonna Taylor

In /Kentucky, tonalplane42 was recently asking more details about what we know about the bodycam situation the night of Breonna Taylor’s death. While I had a short, immediate response – that the official line is that neither Hankison, Mattingly, nor Cosgrove were wearing one at all – I realized just how confusing and convoluted all the information we’ve had over the months has actually been. Therefore, I wanted to look at it a little deeper.
Most of the following has been reported on multiple outlets at this point, but I’ve tried to include at least one major source which each claim. --------------------------------------------------------------
OTHER INCIDENTS WITH OR WITHOUT BODYCAMS IN MARCH 2020
Interestingly, here are some other LMPD shooting that occurred in March 2020. Keep in mind these were all before LMPD knew Breonna Taylor’s case was going to blow up:
1) March 13, 2020. Justin Riggs was shot later on the same day as Breonna Taylor. Body cameras were present and turned on.
2) March 26, 2020. Bryan Johnson, shot at 3000 block of Talisman Road. “According to Chief Steve Conrad, two of the three officers' body cameras recorded the incident. He said one officer does not have video, and that will be addressed later.”
3) March 30, 2020. Jessie Stringfield, shot in the 200 block of East Gray Street. Body cameras were present and turned on. In fact, LMPD even put the footage (graphic, death) on Youtube
4) MY THOUGHTS: Ultimately, for the most part it seems other officers had no issues being equipped with a body camera and turning it on. In one of these 3 cases, they were simply responding to what was initially reported as a “domestic trouble” incident. Why would they not turn on body cameras for a raid? Let’s look at LMPD’s answer to that next.
ARTICLES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SHOOTING
1) March 13, 2020. Immediately following the shooting, former LMPD Chief Steve Conrad said “there will be no body camera footage to share from the shooting because the officers who were involved were members of LMPD's Criminal Interdiction Division who ‘do not wear body-worn video systems’” as reported by WDRB.
2) March 14, 2020. Echoing Conrad, LMPD Major Paul Humphrey said, “A unit such as narcotics, they may not wear body cameras due to the desire to protect some of the people that they interact with and to protect their investigation”
Adding to this, River City Fraternal Order of Police President Ryan Nichols said, because narcotics officers often deal with informants and sensitive drug information, wearing body cameras on a day-to-day basis may actually hurt their investigations.
“[Informants’] identity needs to be protected," Nichols said. "The narcotics world is a very dangerous world and those individuals who, at times provide information to law enforcement, do so at the grave danger of themselves.”
Both these statements were published by Wave 3
Indeed, Hankison, Mattingly, and Cosgrove were part of the Criminal Interdiction Division, a very new team that started in November 2019 and is made up of several units that primarily work narcotics and violent crime cases. According to the aforementioned Wave 3 article, “Some of the members of CID are issued body cameras, though those officers who generally work narcotics cases have not been issued body cameras due to the nature of their work.”
3) MY THOUGHTS: So the answer seems to be that it was because they were part of this special CID unit. All that being said, as the Wave 3 article points out: “But in Breonna Taylor’s case, officers were not collecting information. They were in the process of serving the warrant” And as we will read next, Breonna Taylor’s family and their attorney pointed that in addition to that fact, the CID officers involved had been previously issues body cameras so where were they this time?
ALLEGATIONS BY BREONNA TAYLOR’S FAMILY AND ATTORNEY:
June 11, 2020. The Courier Journal runs an article) with several shocking (at the time) allegations. I am going to quote the article directly.
1) “Sam Aguiar and Lonita Baker say more than 120 officers ultimately were dispatched to Taylor's South End apartment on Springfield Drive in the early morning hours of March 13, a figure they call ‘incredibly high.’ Despite that, no body camera footage has been released, they wrote.”
2) “However, the court filing by Aguiar and Baker asserts that other members of the Criminal Interdiction Unit were assigned cameras prior to Taylor's death, and that Hankison, a narcotics officer, has also previously been assigned a body camera. This, they write, is confirmed by footage from former cases and written citations confirming the presence of cameras.”
3) “Throughout the course of the night, dozens of patrol, SWAT and other ranking officers came and went from the scene, they wrote, and no body camera footage has been turned over.”
4) “The attorneys also wrote that Taylor's apartment complex had security cameras, but LMPD has not turned over that footage.”
5) “In addition to the search warrant for Taylor's apartment, police also raided three neighboring homes on Elliott Avenue in the Russell neighborhood at the same time as a part of the same narcotics investigation. Aguiar and Baker assert that officers were wearing body cameras on Elliott Avenue, and that ‘following the shooting, LMPD officer Kelly Hanna Goodlett advised those present at 2424 Elliott to turn off their body cameras.’”
6) MY THOUGHTS: It is crazy when this came out. 120 officers at the scene and LMPD said they had NOTHING. We now know that isn’t the case of course. And did you catch that last quote from the article: “following the shooting, LMPD officer Kelly Hanna Goodlett advised those present at 2424 Elliott to turn off their body cameras.”
However, what I’m most interested in here is #2 which alleges that other members of the CID have been issued cameras in the past (which contradicts Chief Conrad, Major Paul Humphrey, and River City Fraternal Order of Police President Ryan Nichols’ statements that were made 24 hours after the shooting of Breonna Taylor.
Furthermore, while “other members” likely means “other members [besides Hankison, Mattingly, and Cosgrove],” #2 specifically names Hankison as having been issued a body camera before. They know this because Hankinson’s camera has been referenced in other cases preceding Breonna Taylor’s – most famously from his interactions with Kendrick Wilson who was arrested by Hankison multiple times and took Hankison to court over harassment as well as accusing him of planting evidence. In Wilson’s complaint, Hankison’s body camera is referenced. It is also referenced in articles such as this one published by WHAS 11.
So my question becomes: How does LMPD body camera issuance work? Are you issued one at the start of every shift? Or are you issued one at the start that is yours and only yours that you are responsible to take care of (like most other police issued equipment like a badge and a gun) and required to have with you and use? And why would that be relevant? Let’s look at that next.
THE LMPD AND BODY CAMERAS, HISTORY AND PROCEDURE
1) December 31, 2014. At the time, a body cameras were becoming increasingly relevant in American policing and the national public was asking for them more and more around the nation. As such, LMPD was saying they wanted body cameras for their officers and were rolling out a pilot program summer 2014 where Division 5 (Highlands and Clifton) officers would be equipped with cameras. In an article) published by WFPL covering this pilot program, it is stated that “Body cameras have been under consideration in LMPD for nearly two years [since 2012].”
Sergeant Phil Russell acting as spokesman for the LMPD at the time had told WFPL that “a full roll out to the department’s nearly 1,200 sworn officers is expected to follow by 2016” Russell added that LMPD has been “proactive, not apprehensive” regarding body cameras.
2) May 14th, 2015. WFPL reports that the plan appears to still be on track to outfit everyone by 2016, starting in June 2015 by gradually incorporating more and more divisions.
LMPD ordered 988 cameras (which covers about ¾ of total officers from a company called TASER.
It is noted at the end of the article that “[Chief Conrad] added he would also like to equip specialty units, such as the SWAT Team and VIPER Unit. The timeline for the specialty unit rollout is not part of a “main focus,” he added. CID did not exist yet, but perhaps they would later be considered to fall under the category of “specialty units” mentioned in this comment.
3) July 5, 2016. A One-Year Report to the LMPD about their body camera program. This report covers a lot of what I’ve been saying in this section in a lot more detail than the WFPL articles. For brevity, I have not gone into it too much – but you should definitely read it. I include it because it has a table for when the bodycams were rolled out to each Division between 2015 and 2016. Table 1: WVS Deployment Date by Division Fifth Division June 1, 2015 Second Division July 21, 2015 First Division August 4, 2015 Fourth Division August 12, 2015 Third Division August 18, 2015 Ninth Mobile Division August 20, 2015 Seventh Division September 24, 2015 Eighth Division October 2, 2015 Sixth Division March 11, 2016 Traffic Unit June 29, 2016
In addition to that, it mentions that despite what Chief Conrad said in #2, “Upon review of units it was determined that the 9th Mobile Division, Traffic Unit, Canine Unit, Division-level Flex Units, and SWAT team would receive body-worn cameras.” So it seems the idea to leave some specialty units out was reconsidered. Again, CID didn’t exist yet.
4) At the time of Breonna’s shooting, this seems to be Standard Operating Procedures policy that was in place. NOTE: There is a new one now since the shooting of Breonna
4.31.5 PROCEDURES (KACP 17.13a-b)
WVS equipment is the responsibility of the individual officer to whom it is assigned. WVS devices shall only be stored in designated, secured locations at LMPD facilities, inside of the officer’s home or in secured LMPD vehicles when they are not in use. Officers are to exercise reasonable care and maintenance of the WVS equipment. During their tour of duty, or while engaged in uniformed law enforcement-related secondary employment, officers shall maintain their WVS in a constant state of operational readiness. When practical, officers shall activate their WVS in recording mode, prior to their arrival on-scene, for any call for service or engaging in any law enforcement activity or encounter. The WVS shall be used to record all calls for service and law enforcement activities/encounters (e.g. arrests, citations, stops, pursuits, Code 3 operations/responses, searches, seizures, interviews, identifications, use of force incidents, collisions, transports, warrants, etc.). In extremely rare situations, an encounter may be sudden and unanticipated. If an officer is involved in a sudden and unanticipated incident where exigent safety concerns prevent the immediate activation of his/her WVS, he/she shall activate the WVS at the first opportunity, when it is safe to do so, in order to capture the immediate aftermath of the situation.
If an officer fails to activate his/her WVS in recording mode, fails to record the complete incident or interrupts the recording, he/she shall document the reason in a memorandum and forward it, through the appropriate chain of command, to his/her Bureau Commander.
4.31.6 OPERATION (KACP 17.13a) Officers shall inspect their WVS to verify that it is fully-charged and does not contain any recordings from a prior tour of duty. Officers shall immediately upload any prior recordings. Officers shall inspect their WVS and its components for damage and verify that it is functioning properly prior to, and during, their tour of duty.
5) MY THOUGHTS: Here is where my lack of expertise fails me. I can not tell from this language if an officer is assigned a camera and then THAT IS THEIR camera that they must take with them at all times. From the language, it sounds like equipment that is assigned and then expected to be cared for by the officer.
It matters, because there is an argument I’ve seen that officers are only required to have a camera if they’ve been assigned one. I don’t know if they are assigned every day or if they are assigned once and done. We know Hankison has been assigned a camera before due to previous cases. That would mean that this argument at least doesn’t hold up for Hankison, even if Mattingly and Cosgrove were never assigned a camera.

SO WHO DID HAVE A BODYCAM ON MARCH 13th, 2020?
1) September 4th, 2020: Vice news publishes an article with pictures from the night of the shooting of Breonna Taylor. Vice News picked up on body cam footage that was leaked. Vice says “The Louisville Metro Police Department took almost 300 pictures of the crime scene on the night of the raid and about another 300 the following day” Ultimately, more than 1200 photos have been taken.
In these pictures, you can see Cosgrove with an empty camera mount. Does this mean Cosgrove was previously assigned a Camera like Hankison? This remains a mystery. I’ve heard people say that he just simply put on a tactical vest that happened to have an empty mount while preparing to go on the no knock warrant, though I haven’t seen this sourced anywhere by media or the LMPD. I’ve also seen no record of Cosgrove having previous body cam footage used in legal proceeding (like we have with Hankison), but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t assigned one.
Also in these pictures, you see Officer Tony James with a body camera (not just a mount). Interestingly, this article was the first to suggest that there were FOUR officers present in addition to Hankison, Mattingly, and Cosgrove.
If nothing else, it rattles a previous statement by Fischer to Vice News in July 2020 referenced in this same VICE article. “In July, VICE News sat down with Mayor Greg Fischer and asked if any of the seven officers present for the raid were wearing body cameras. Mayor Fischer replied, ‘Not to my knowledge.’”
2) September 26, 2020. Vice News again, this time they picked up on leaked body cam footage. This footage is assumed to be leaked by Kendrick Wilson on Snapchat under the moniker Julia Roberts (a reference to Erin Brockovich’s investigation of Hinkley) groundwater contamination incident).
Vice says “the footage was captured by 45 different body cameras and included as part of the investigative file compiled by the LMPD’s Public Integrity Unit and shared with the Kentucky attorney general’s office.”

WHAT HAS CHANGED:
1) Since the raid, Louisville Metro Council has passed an ordinance requiring all officers executing a search warrant to wear body cameras and have them turned on.
2) Here is the new, improved Body Camera Standard Operating Procedure on Page 355
It does now state in 4.31.1 POLICY that “All sworn members will be issued WVS cameras”

2020.09.25 15:41 SauzaPaul Weekly Watch Report - September 25, 2020

October will be upon us before you know it. If you saw anything you'd like to say a few words about, drop it right here! Everyone is welcome!
I apologize in advance, my "horror" this week was horror-adjacent at best!
Hardware (1990) Richard Stanley’s directorial debut has a little Mad Max, a little Terminator, and maybe a pinch of Tetsuo. Dylan McDermott scavenges some robot parts and sells some to a junk collector, and the rest his girlfriend uses in an art installation. Turns out it was a secret government weapon, and it turns itself on and goes on a killing spree. I’d seen this years ago and wasn’t too hot on it, but I liked Color Out in Space so much I figured I’d revisit Stanley’s earlier work (Dust Devil next). The first half wasn’t really my bag but once the robot started running around it was pretty cool. Iggy Pop voiced a radio DJ and Lemmy had a cameo as a taxi driver.
My Name is Julia Ross (1945) A woman (Nina Foch) answers an ad for a job that turns out to be fake, and ends up kidnapped and forced to pose a rich lady’s (Dame May Whitty) violent son’s wife in this dark and entertaining noir that clocks in at 65 minutes. One of those "nobody believes me" plots.
The Devil All the Time (2020) Violent redneck crime drama that I didn’t feel had much of a story despite being 2:20 long. Shitty preachers, mean hillbillies, and some people trying to be good and fighting back. Meh, it was OK. Riley “Granddaughter of Elvis” Keough has got to be the only actress left who will take her top off. Also with Bill Skaarsgard and Robert Pattinson. I wouldn’t watch it twice.
Ed Wood (1994) I've seen this at least 12 times and would see it 12 more. Johnny Depp plays legendary bad film director and transvestite, Ed Wood, as he and his band of misfit friends film his now-infamous worse-than-B-movies, Glen or Glenda, Bride of the Monster and Plan 9 From Outer Space. Martin Landau won an Oscar as Bela Lugosi. This probably half-true comedy-biopic from Tim Burton was a box office flop, but in my opinion is by far his best film, and an all time personal fave of mine.

  1. Joseph Gordon-Levitt didn't particularly want to be in 10 Things I Hate About You as he was looking to star in more serious movies. He also auditioned for the role of Michael and preferred that character to Cameron.
  2. And Heath Ledger's first audition for Patrick Verona didn't go very well, but the casting director was so impressed by his charisma that she brought him in again for a second one.
  3. The original casting director for Clueless was really keen to get Ben Affleck to play the role of Josh, and the actor even read for the part.
  4. The director wrote the role of Mr. Hall for Wallace Shawn, but just had to go through the motions of auditioning other actors.
  5. Toni Collette was offered the role of Bridget in Bridget Jones' Diary but turned it down.
  6. Colin Firth initially said no to playing Mark Darcy because he thought the character didn't do much, but changed his mind when he realised that playing him could be a fun challenge to take on.
  7. Taylor Swift's actor boyfriend Joe Alwyn actually auditioned for the role of Samuel in Love Actually when he was a kid.
  8. The role of Natalie was written for Martine McCutcheon after Richard Curtis saw her in My Fair Lady.
  9. Richard Curtis says he had two people in mind for the character of Billy Mack – an unnamed very famous actor and a very famous comedian – but cast Bill Nighy five minutes after seeing him.
  10. Rob Reiner was reluctant to cast Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally as they were best friends IRL and he was worried about what would happen if it didn't work. Albert Brooks, Tom Hanks, and Michael Keaton were among actors approached first.
  11. Noah Centineo was also considered for the role of Josh in To All The Boys I've Loved Before, but after seeing his chemistry with Lana Condor the director opted to make him Peter Kavinsky.
  12. The two stars' first meeting was like a rom-com meet-cute. Lana Condor turned down his request to run lines together while in the waiting room for the auditions, as she really wanted to focus on memorising them without distraction.
  13. And producers didn't realise quite how tall Noah was until after he had been cast, when Lana couldn't make it into a frame with him during the camera test due to their height difference.
  14. Putting Keanu Reeves in Always Be My Maybe was a "pie in the sky" gamble, and the director wrote him into the script before approaching his agent to see if he'd be up for it.
  15. Julia Roberts was offered the lead role in Sleepless in Seattle but turned it down.
  16. In a meeting with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the director of 500 Days of Summer asked him who he saw Summer being. He instantly said Zooey Deschanel and they hired her shortly before going on to hire him.
  17. Anne Hathaway was set to star in Knocked Up but declined because of nudity in the film that she didn't feel was necessary to the story.
  18. Henry Golding was a TV presenter before being cast in Crazy Rich Asians and turned down the chance to audition for the movie several times, because he was worried that he wouldn't do it justice and thought they would be after a more seasoned actor.
  19. In The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Steve Carrell's IRL wife plays the counselor at the health clinic where Andy goes with Maria.
  20. Brendan Fraser was meant to co-star in The Wedding Planner, but dropped out to be in Bedazzled.
  21. Jennifer Garner wanted to be in Love, Simon but had reservations over that big scene between her character and Simon, saying it "wasn't specific enough". They then crafted a new scene which is what we see towards the third act.
  22. Jack Black's character in The Holiday was written for him after Nancy Meyers saw him in School of Rock.
  23. And he accepted because he wanted to make a movie that his mum could watch and enjoy. He said The Holiday is "her favourite kind of movie. A love story with sweet feelings and lots of emotions."

2020.09.20 03:03 AutonInvasion CBL World Rankings: End of Season 3 Round 6 update

CBL World Rankings: End of Season 3 Round 6 update
As we are about to enter the final week of CBL Season 3, here are the final updated for Round 6:
Premier League
The girl who plays with magical sticks vs the girl who became mother to the children of a man who played with a magical stick. Emma Watson vs Natalie Portman should have been close as both are deserved of high ranks on the board. However, CBL fans definitely preferred the witch of the wizarding world as they picked Emma Watson with a massive 146 votes, 86 more than her opponent. Emma Watson has a way to climb to catch up with Scarlett Johansson however she gains a couple points on the table whilst remaining in 2nd place. Natalie Portman drops 6 places into 38th. Emma Watson cannot be beaten in the Premier League so will be rewarded with her gold trophy at the end of the season as she takes the position of CBL Champion from Scarlett, along with the 10 bonus points to her rank. Natalie Portman faces potential relegation but that will depend on the results of the games played next week.
u/tobaccoroadeagle has some tips for the celebs...
this matchup will prove that the topless paparazzi photos of emma were all a part of the publicity program to get emma the season 3 premier victory.
to all you other contestants out there - think about this as a ploy for the potential of future success (i'm looking at you anna kendrick and all the other ladies that have famously stated they will never doff their tops on film)
that said, i'm voting for natalie
There are topless photos of EW out there and I didn't know this, how?
League 2
The Scarlet Witch, Elizabeth Olsen, has had a bit of a cult following on CBL since her first appearance, often beating opponents where I would have expected the favour to have gone to them instead. Unfortunately, the trend has certainly been bucked by Jessica Alba who beat her by a solid 26 votes. Losing 3 games and drawing 3 others, Olsen could face relegation if her match next week doesn't go well, whereas Alba seems to be comfortably retaining her place in league 2 for the next season. Olsen drops 68 places into 116th this week whilst Alba climbs 10 to 44th.
u/Dugonginae feared for Alba's chances...
Really hope Jessica can win this one, especially with a pic that good, but she’s not really relevant anymore which will likely hurt her votes.
League 3
Karen Gillan and Kate Beckinsale have both remained very popular this season, but the latter more-so. Perhaps its that seemingly perfect smile or that seemingly perfect outfit with those seemingly perfect boobs. However you see it, Beckinsale has won the hearts and votes of the 3rd league and she further extends her claim to promotion in this battle, winning by 20 votes. Beckinsale climbs 1 place this week into 4th whilst Gillan drops 2 into 22nd.
Cyborg alien fetishist, u/Dojo_Casino said
Oof. Tough one. The outfit on Karen is amazing, but not enough.
If it had been a Nebula shot, I'd have to vote for her. Yes, I know I'm a weirdo.
No kink-shaming anyone CBL fans - we don't do that here.
League 4
Hailee Steinfeld and Camila Cabello fought in glorious battle with Cabello's glorious thighs that would have warriors sing songs about for decades vs Steinfeld's outfit that would make me sing...Ahem...Unfortunately Cabello has been outmatched and outclassed as she continues in her league 4 losing streak and guaranteeing her relegation to one of the League 5 groups. Steinfeld takes the win with a 44 vote lead, climbing 11 places into 61st. Cabello drops 3 places sitting just above Rebel (Vote Rebel!) in last but one place.
u/Buck_Up_Man
There once was a girl from Havana
Who could draw the eyes in the cabana
But, another, with true grit
And a body so fit
That she wins in the final stanza
(I'm obviously having some limerick fun today, sorry if it's annoying. I just enjoy writing stupid limericks lol)
The once was a guy having fun Who's name could be shortened to Bum He should maybe serve time For that limerick rhyme But worse from Turtle's been done ^_^
League 5A
Emma Roberts has had an unfortunate run, not unlike Cabello in League 4. Unfortunately again, this run has continued in her match up with the unusually hot Moretz. The Hit Girl scored 24 more votes resulting in a modest climb up one place to 51st. Roberts on the other hand performed higher than the algorithm would have generally expected her to and sees her climb 3 places into 374th. However, WR gains doesn't necessarily score points on the league tables and Roberts again guarantees herself relegation into what is currently known as the transitional league for season 4.
u/mediocre_fabricator posted an above average comment:
Emma, while attractive, just looks kinda average. Don't take it wrong, this is among 300 or so of the best looking celebrities, so average has a different meaning, but still.
Chloe is just uniquely beautiful. And those legs... goddamn
League 5B
Cobie Smulders, a hot woman who looked fantastic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Maria Hill, and the main love interest for the father in How I Met Your Mother, took on Emma Stone, with the amazing eyes and fiery hair. Smulders has struggled to maintain her position in League 5B but has just managed to hold on one position above relegation, with Rihanna and Elizabeth Gillies taking the plunge. However, Smulders still lost to Stone by 28 votes which means that she drops one place into 364th whilst Stone has also managed to drop 2 places this week into joint-46th with Vanessa Hudgens. Emma Stone sits at the top of the League 5B table but it's still too early to tell whether she will be joining League 4 next season.
u/Turtle123712 provides us with the proof:
There once was a dog with a bone,
He belonged to Emma Stone,
She went to work as a rock,
And waved in front of her enemy a smelly sock,
The Smuldering Cobie couldn’t take it,
And she fell down the league table and her rank took a hit !
(Disclaimer this poem is hypothetical and should only be quoted if it’s correct ;) )
I provide the comments that interested me...an incorrect prediction can be more interesting than an incorrect one :P
Transitional League
In this league, no one stays. You either get promoted or relegated by the end of it. Lily James, whilst hot, with a picture that makes Kate Moss look impossibly happy by comparison, took on a cute image of Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who looks like she has a naughty side about to burst free. Unfortunately for Lily fans, MEW won by 42 votes and secures her place in League 5 next season. Lily James unfortunately secures her place in the Conference Premier Leagues as she will be relegated. Lily drops 1 place into 375th whilst MEW climbs 30 into 317th place.
u/tobaccoroadeagle had to choose who he disliked the least, which is just the same as voting for the celeb you find most attractive out of the pairing - just from starting in a bad place I suppose
i hate to have to vote for m.e.w. - i just don't get it, but lily is giving me such an angry look i can't get past it to vote for her
Conference Premier A
After making a strong enough name for herself, Rebel has spoken out about the mistreatment of actors by producers to maintain unhealthy weight, including that of overweight stars expected to be the laughing stock of Hollywood for being fat. Rebel has managed to shed the pounds and looks stunning in her new healthier size. And this is why I feel that the Vote Rebel mini-movement has taken off in the last couple of weeks.
However, she was up against the more popular Fanning of CBL (Dakota isn't actually in the main CBL Seasons at the moment) and whilst drawing what I believe to be her second highest level of votes since joining CBL, Rebel's WR score dropped by over 10% increasing the gap between 379th and 378th place. Fanning climbs 16 places with her victory into 333rd place. Both, however, have managed to find relegation this season into season 4's new lower division.
I admire the spirit of all Rebels who commented, but this was Turtle's best of the day by far:
This poem is all about Rebel.
R stands for ROARING like a fire,
E stands for EXCELLENT like rebels desire 👀,
B is for the BEAUTY that comes in many forms,
E is for EVERYONE regardless of social norms,
L is for the LOVE that auton has for her,
Rebel Wilson, the giver
Conference Premier B
Finally we have Julia Fox vs Alejandra Guilmant for the final battle of Round 6. I expected this to be close, not just based on the rankings but the trends too, with both having similar levels of losses and popularity. And, for the purposes of the league, this did end in a draw with a tiny advantage to Fox. Fox stayed static in 365th whilst Guilmant actually climbed place into 366th, again pretty equal. Fox will drop to a new lower division whilst Guilmant still fights to avoid relegation in the final round next week.
u/tobaccoroadeagle manages to see things that the rest of us may not. Where did he find this power?
this is a tough call, but the fact that julia has an uncorked wine bottle growing out of her backside gives her the nod

Quote of the Day
This has been a very fine day for comments with many entries obviously seeking the humour win but with serious discussion attempts too. Finding this a very tough one to call. I've decided that the unusual attraction to a blue cyborg with no hair amused me the most and takes the 50 tokens for Friday's comments. Congrats u/Dojo_Casino and apologies to all the other deserving posts (those mentioned and those not - I read them all).

Ajuste de Rango Cup
I seem to have generated a little confusion with my first post appealing for photos of celebs. The Ajuste De Rango cup is designed to rank the 300 (approx) middling celebs more appropriately as the majority have only had their games ranked via the old system which didn't take so much into consideration.
Ajuste de Rango is Spanish for "Adjusting the rankings" or "Adjusting the range" and sounds a lot better than "The Middling Cup"
The AdR will run alongside the Card Battle tournament that starts when Season 3 ends.
Please look out for my posts calling for your favourite photos. If you have time to help, this will support me greatly in trying to run my first tournament on CBL with Sharpus and Sarc.
The first post is looking for Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and Diane Kruger at https://www.reddit.com/CelebBattleLeague/comments/ivws9p/ajuste_de_rango_photo_suggestions_13/
Season 3 Round 6 Rankings
So we know how some of the season will end, but the rankings continue, with Scarlett remaining your hottest celeb currently, even if she is about to hand over her CBL title of Premier League Champion.
Where do your favourites currently stand? Any surprises?

2020.09.18 05:09 miserybizness What are some things you love about Scream 4?

Social Commentary: Over the past few years, Scream 4 has been able to garner recognition for the way social commentary was implemented in the film, most notably during the killer reveal scene. The fact that Jill and Charlie killed all of their friends to get famous might have seemed ludicrous in 2011, but it is way more culturally relevant today than it was nine years ago. Back in 2011, the closest thing we got to people doing fucked up things to get famous were teens getting pregnant to get on shows like Teen Mom. Nowadays, it is way more common to see young people do fucked up things to get famous. We have TikTok kids eating tide-pods to go viral and "influencers" like Lovely Peaches (if you don't know her, please stay away) completely dehumanizing themselves for the sole purpose of clout and internet notoriety. Also, the character of Charlie definitely predicted the whole "nice guy" incel culture that wasn't very common back in 2011. If anything, Scream 4 was able to predict the complete downfall of modern teenagers thanks to social media and it is anything but brilliant.
Stunt Casting: Having Emma Roberts play Sidney's cousin who was sick of being in her shadow was a brilliant form of stunt casting. Though Emma Roberts has a pretty big career now, back in 2011 the only work she did flopped. Having her play Sidney's cousin was brilliant due to the fact because at the time, she was in Julia Roberts shadow as well. I'm not sure if that was intentional or coincidental but I always found it genius how Emma portrayed someone who wanted to fill the roles of their much more successful relative. Stunt casting can even come back to Rory Culkin, who was overshadowed by Macaulay Culkin and always in his shadow.
Alfred Hitchcock: I rarely see the influence of Alfred Hitchcock being discussed when talking about Scream 4 but it's very evident. Hayden Panettiere's (the only female character in the film with a distinct look) hair feels like it was influenced by Kim Novak out of Vertigo. Speaking of Vertigo, the Vertigo references in this film are very clear. Vertigo was obsessed with spirals and "things within things" and the latter could be seen as an influence to Scream 4 starting off with a movie-in-a-movie. Not only that, but there are a lot of Rear Window references as well. Jill and Kirby watching Olivia get slaughtered through the bedroom window felt very Rear Window-esque and you can also see a Rear Window poster in Kirby's room.

2020.09.16 13:37 finnagains An interview with Michael Fitzgerald, producer of 'Waiting for the Barbarians'

Two weeks ago, we posted a review of Waiting for the Barbarians, ( https://redd.it/imdvcy ) the film directed by Ciro Guerra, from a screenplay by South African-born author J.M. Coetzee and based on the latter’s novel of the same title, published in 1980. The film, with important lead performances by Mark Rylance, Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson, takes place on the borders of a 19th century “Empire.”
The central figure is a Magistrate, a middling, lifetime civil servant, who becomes a witness, against his will, to increasingly savage repression by security police and government forces against the local, nomad population. Ultimately, he speaks out and acts in opposition to the violence, with severe consequences for himself.
In our review, we suggested that Waiting for the Barbarianswas “a very strong film, painful at times to watch, and a thoughtful, devastating work of art, rare in our day.” We added that there was no way “to seriously interpret this film as anything but a searing indictment of imperialism, and American imperialism in particular. Indeed, it is hard to think of a more uncompromising indictment in recent decades.”
I was recently able to speak with Michael Fitzgerald, one of the producers of Waiting for the Barbarians. As Fitzgerald explains in the conversation below, he has a history in movies extending back to the late 1970s. He first produced two films with John Huston, Wise Blood (1979) and Under the Volcano (1984), based on the 1947 novel by Malcolm Lowry, the latter of which was nominated for two Academy Awards.
Fitzgerald subsequently produced The Penitent (Cliff Osmond, 1988), starring Raul Julia, Mister Johnson (1990) with Academy Award-winning director Bruce Beresford, and Blue Danube Waltz (1992) with well-known Hungarian filmmaker Miklós Jancsó.
A partnership with actodirector Sean Penn resulted in their production of The Pledge (2001), with Jack Nicholson. In 2005 he completed both Colour Me Kubrick (Brian Cook), starring John Malkovich, about a conman who impersonates director Stanley Kubrick, and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones. At the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada received the Acting Award for Jones and the Screenplay Award for Guillermo Arriaga. Fitzgerald also produced In the Electric Mist (Bertrand Tavernier, 2009).
We spoke on the phone.
Michael Fitzgerald: First of all, I wanted to thank you for your piece, because it was really well thought through and delicately written, and a lovely look at the whole thing. I was very grateful to see it, and so there you are.
David Walsh: Thank you. Likewise, I’m deeply appreciative of the film and your efforts.
Could you tell me something, if it’s not too daunting, about your life and background in film?
MF: Summarizing very quickly, I grew up in Italy. My father [Robert Fitzgerald] was a poet—and translator—and he brought his family to Italy in the 1950s. All the children were sent to boarding schools to learn English, and I was sent off to a Benedictine Abbey in the west of Ireland called Glenstal Abbey. I went to University College Dublin for a year and then transferred to Harvard.
By then my father was the Boylston Professor at Harvard and the family moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the late 1960s. When I graduated in 1973, I went back to Italy to teach. I fell into screenplay writing and decided, along with my brother (who many years later wrote the screenplay for The Passion of The Christ), to strike out for Hollywood in 1975.
That was a frustrating experience as you would imagine.
So I decided that instead of sitting by the telephone waiting for someone to react to what we were writing—we didn’t know anyone when we went out there—I would try and pick something that I thought was extraordinary and go all the way through with it, just produce it, make it or get it made.
I picked the first novel of Flannery O’Connor, Wise Blood [1952]. On the premise that I didn’t know anything and therefore I should go and work with the person who knew everything, I managed to get in touch with John Huston who by then had 40 movies behind him, and had been something of a legendary figure in Ireland when I was growing up.
I somehow managed to find his number in Mexico, called him and he answered. I sent him the screenplay and he thought it was fabulous and asked me to come down to see him. I spent a week as his guest in Puerto Vallarta. Huston said he would stand behind me no matter what. And he did. It took me a couple of years to raise the money, frustrating years, but in the end I got the necessary amount to make the film, and he was there as he said he would be. Off we went. That started it all.
DW: How old were you then?
MF: When I first got to John Huston? 25.
DW: Was that filmmaking experience an interesting and valuable one?
MF: It was extraordinary. He was an extraordinary man. I decided then that I would never make a film with anyone else. If he had lived, I never would have. But he died [in 1987]. In the meantime, we had gone on to make Under the Volcano [1984], a few years later. We were going to make a film called Mister Johnson, which I ultimately made with Bruce Beresford [1990]. It was something that John had wanted to do all his life, but for most of his lifetime making a film with a Nigerian lead would just have been impossible.
DW: How did you develop the association with Tommy Lee Jones?
MF: Oddly enough, Tommy Lee graduated from Harvard in 1969, the year I started there. He had done his senior thesis on Flannery O’Connor. I knew that when I went to cast Wise Blood, and he was one of the people I called upon to play the leading character. But then John and I preferred to go in another direction. I’ve known him since that time. We kept up with each other, and I had and have a great admiration for him as an actor and now as a director. I have produced two film which he starred in and directed, The Three Burials Of Melquiaeds Estrada and The Homesman [2014].
DW: You have a kind of family connection to Flannery O’Connor.
MF: Yes, she lived with us in Connecticut while she was writing Wise Blood, oddly enough. She only went home when she had her first attack of lupus. She would have been about 21 years old at the time, and my parents eventually became her literary executors.
DW: Can you speak about your association with John Coetzee?
MF: It goes back a long time. Over the decades we became friends. I think he fully understands my devotion to his work, let’s put it that way. I adore his work, there’s no other way of putting it. It does something to me that very little, if anything else does.
I identify profoundly with the human beings he has pulled out of thin air. He wrote a book called Life & Times of Michael K. That I would identify with Michael K, who is essentially a disturbed and even retarded black man wandering around Cape Town, South Africa, that I would identify with such a figure strikes me as rather bizarre, but it is, nevertheless, true.
Ever since I read Waiting for the BarbariansI have wanted to make it into a movie. It’s been a north star in my life for almost 30 years.
DW: Why that particular work?
MF: At the heart of the story is an ordinary man. A Magistrate. I identify with him. He wants to steer away from trouble, he can see it coming, but doesn’t want any part of it. In the story, he rebels against the very empire he represents at great cost to himself. And I would wish for myself, as I would wish for most of us, that we too might have the courage to stand up, even at the cost of our lives, and say “I won’t do this anymore.”
Someone said an interesting thing to me. He suggested that when the hammer comes up, and the Magistrate makes his quixotic move, that even the moment before he didn’t know he was going to do that. All the events in the film that precede this are a preparation for that act of rebellion, but the extraordinary thing is that even he doesn’t know what he’s about to do.
Until that moment he rants and raves, he wants to clean everything up, he wants to get away from it all, all the things I imagine I would have wanted to do in his circumstances.
DW: But it is unusual, and admirable, that the book portrays someone who does make that kind of decision. The vast majority of works today tend to do the opposite.
MF: It’s the only thing that makes it interesting.
DW: In 1980, what was Coetzee responding to, directly or indirectly? What was the driving force behind Waiting for the Barbarians?
MF: I think his is a wide-ranging mind and informed by many things. Neither the book nor the film, for example, have anything do with apartheid in South Africa in that immediate sense.
However, the remarks that are made by the young soldier to the Magistrate about what happened to the old man who “attacks” his interrogators and then is killed are the verbatim comments from the police report on the death of the activist Steve Biko in 1977. The police reported that Biko hit his head against the wall while he attacked them, that sort of nonsense. So the book and film are informed by that experience, by the behavior of “empire,” by all the things that governments have been doing since the beginning of time.
DW: You speak about a 30-year effort to make the film. Could you give some highlights?
MF: Well, it ranged from being very close to making it with Ben Kingsley and Tommy Lee Jones in 1993, to going with Werner Herzog to the Tian Shan mountains in 2000 above the Taklamakan Desert in western China, where we would have hoped to make the film with Werner directing it, to spending a month with John Box, the production designer of David Lean, from whom I’ve learned a great deal, in Morocco looking for locations, many of which we would end up using 25 years later.
DW: Waiting for the Barbarians had a powerful impact and significance in 1980 or so, when it was written or when it appeared. Does it have a greater impact and significance, or a different one, in 2020, some 40 years later?
MF: I think it’s just gotten closer, basically. Of course, it had a resonance certainly in the more enlightened places in the West, a kind of an intellectual resonance perhaps. But now it seems to be in our backyard, or front yard, or basement, first floor, second floor…and attic. It seems to speak to our best and worst angels very closely. We refer to the “Other” as “barbarian,” and we fear what we do not know, and we use that fear to keep control over others. There is little or no nuance to it, it is raw loathing and power-mongering, empire.
Many of us live like the Magistrate in a wary relationship to it that power. We have been living the sunny side to it, but the dark clouds are there, they’re frightening and they’re very close to us.
I spent a year at University College Dublin studying the Second World War and studying the history of Germany in the 1930s—that would certainly give one pause today.
DW: Coetzee made all the changes from the novel to the screenplay? They were all his ideas?
MF: My first thought when I met John was that I would never do this unless it was his writing of it. That’s what I was interested in. He wrote the screenplay in 1993. We only tweaked it very recently, but very little.
DW: That’s interesting. He was writing things in 1993 that spoke very strongly to what would play out over the next 25 years. Mark Rylance in Waiting for the Barbarians (2019)
MF: The world has been too much with us for a very long time.
DW: I grant you, but that the last 25 years have witnessed a particular eruption of American imperialist violence.
MF: That’s right. But I think part of the point of the book is that it’s always there underneath, something to be wary of.
DW: Do you have any sense of how Coetzee views the present world situation?
MF: He’s an 80-year-old man, in very good condition, but he’s slightly over 80. … I think he lives in his own world, I don’t think he pays too much attention to the contemporary world. Various things appall him, of course.
DW: How did the film attract the cast that it did?
MF: The only answer I’ve really got for you, is that it attracted them because it’s good.
DW: Fair enough, but not all good scripts attract good actors.
MF: Sometimes that is a failure of imagination on the part of the producer. That’s one of the things John Huston taught me. If you think you’ve got it, go for the biggest stars. Why not? As often as not, people love to be offered something they can sink their teeth into. In fact, it’s also really the best way to get actors for very little money, offer them something substantial.
As I say, this is something I’ve done for years, and much to the joy of many actors who got to do things they wouldn’t ordinarily do.
Mark Rylance is an incredible actor. I saw him in [Steven Spielberg’s] Bridge of Spies, and I thought, this is the guy. He was mesmerizing, you couldn’t take your eyes off him. I thought, I cannot fail to make this film while this guy is around. I have to do it with him.
I’ve been thinking of Johnny Depp in the part of Col. Joll for, it seems, 20 years. I’ve known him for 25 years. He is one of the finest actors around. There is something in the character of Joll as written in the novel that gives you the sense that the man is doing what he has to do, but he would much rather be at the opera, in a pair of soft slippers, in a dainty costume and not doing all this terrible stuff. I thought that Johnny had that sort of delicacy that would make the character even more horrifying. He will take on any challenge as an actor, if you offer it to him. He doesn’t always have it offered to him.
For both Rylance and Depp, it was a sensational experience. Mark Rylance learned a great deal from Johnny Depp, and vice versa. That is the way it ought to be.
DW: What about the generally cool or even unfriendly critical reception?
MF: I was expecting it, you know. If you look at everything else that’s being done—everything is so distracted and distracting, there’s a cut every two seconds, you’re being constantly dazzled. That seems to be the objective. We made a very deliberate choice to forgo that, not because we didn’t know how to do it, but because we didn’t think it was appropriate.
We wanted to follow this man, to follow his awakening, to follow him right up until the moment he makes an irreparable choice. We needed to get him there, we couldn’t do it with razzle-dazzle. We needed him to explore, we needed him to put his fingers where the torture had taken place, to question what was going on. That can’t be done in two-second scenes.
DW: I understand, but I don’t think it was only the stylistic issues that made the critics unhappy. It was also the content, the film’s anger, its outrage.
MF: Of course, this is very uncomfortable. That’s why I did it. Because the source material made me uncomfortable.
I’m pleased that you thought highly of the film, and we shall see what happens.

2020.09.12 02:24 AutonInvasion CBL World Rankings: S3-R5-D3

CBL World Rankings: S3-R5-D3
Although I had glanced at the results of the below matches earlier today, it is only now that I have realised how they have affected the World Rankings! 5 match losers have gained WR score, and Anna Kendrick has been knocked down into double figures! There's still one more day before this week's WR results are locked in as such, but the top 10, whilst only showing a couple of changes, they're significant!
Watson used her magic to perform the unthinkable curse on Kendrick...
Premier League
Well I've already told you what happened, but lets put I have a paragraph to fill: Anna Kendrick, the celeb you probably knew first for her unusual expressions as the teenage friend of wannabe Vampire Belle Swan (Kristen Stewart, currently in 151st on the WR) who then became pitch perfect as she sung naked in the shower with an also naked Brittany Snow (currently 110th on the WR) and continued growing in fame and attraction with her girl next door appearance, went up against Emma Watson, the celeb who started off as a young child in Harry Potter, made adults feel weird when she became hot very quickly as a young adult, but by the time she was also able to play a character Belle, it was ok as she was clearly old enough, with her posh accent and ability to say words...but professionally.
Unfortunately for the Bella (is this enough belle/bellas yet?) Watson not only won this, but won by a lead of 46 votes. 99 of you probably feel a bit weird now having read my write up. Whoops ^_^
Emma continues to stay in place currently 5.2 WR points ahead of Natalie Dormer, but 36.39 points behind the Black Widow. Kendrick drops 5 into 10th place with only a 0.29 WR point lead against 11th place Selena Gomez.
Am I allowed to quote the founders in my top quotes from each game? I don't know him any more than anyone else here on a personal level, so of course I can. u/SarcasticCynic67
One of these could keep you entertained for days, the other would put the Harry Potter films on.
And seeing her as an obnoxious 11 year old should kill the mood, so you politely ask her to leave and put the Pitch Perfect franchise on instead - next time you see Rebel Wilson to vote on, you end up giving her a vote.
Everyone’s happy, apart from Emma Watson, as I think that’s not possible.
League 2
It's pure coincidence that minutes before I have sat down to type this up, I have re-watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier which has an introductory appearance of Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch in the end credits scene (Did I really need to blank that out? Come on, the movie is 6 years old now!)
Anyhow, Olsen battled Natalie Dormer in a battle that I would have predicted would have been rather one sided.
However, Olsen lost this by a single vote and whilst this officially ended in a draw for league purposes, Dormer was victorious. The expectations based on previous WR scores meant that Olsen was ultimately a ranking winner, combined with a WR increase for other games, has climbed a whopping 318 places into 50th! Dormer on the other hand saw a 0.01 increase in her score for performing below expectations and whilst climbing 9 points in this week's games, remains in 3rd place.
u/dal3y42x :
Elizabeth Olsen over Natalie Dormer. 'Nuff said!
Someone's gotta get a win eventually!
From a league perspective, still no win! Sorry ^_^
League 3
Megan Fox and Karen Gillan are two very attractive women in their own right. Fox is known for leaning over a car in a movie about alien mechanoid life forms, and Karen Gillan is known for being a kissagram in a sci-fi series. Of course, both have done a lot since then and it seems that the woman with the Ruby red hair has performed a Roundhouse kick in Megan Fox's gusset, leaving her with another KO this season. Gillan out-Foxed Megan with a 32 vote lead. Gillan, for other reasons, still drops 5 into 20th whereas Fox drops 4 sitting 340 ranks below her victor.
Whilst very to the point with this prediction, I can't help but quote u/100sexiestBEL for the accuracy:
No wins for Fox yet. At 0 points still, along with Turner.
No wins place Gillan directly over Fox, but she has received way more votes on average than her so she probably wins (86 to 57,75).
The final count was 86 to 54!
League 4
Olivia Munn and Camila Cabello are both struggling in the league, so, assuming they continue their trends, this could be the match to see who ends up one from bottom. In this case, and the comments backed this up, this was a little one sided with Munn winning by votes. However, like the Olsen/Dormer match, Cabello turned out to be the real winner as she performed better than her rank would have suggested climbing 2 points into 375th. Whilst Munn's score didn't drop from this match, she has dropped 8 places to 53rd.
u/TheClockwork0 made a great discussion point:
I’m shocked Olivia isn’t more popular here. This photo is an especially good example of her. Maybe it’s because she’s not a great actress. Nonetheless, she is hot as fuck and strikes me as cool hang.
If people are downvoting her because they don't think she's a great actress...don't forget they're all great to watch on mute.
League 5A
I'll be honest, looking through her IMDB list it doesn't look like I have ever encountered an Emma Roberts performance outside of CBL, whereas Swift has been on my radar since the very late 2000s, if only for being that hot singer with the annoying songs (granted she has improved since then). Anyway, this looked to be another one sided battle with Roberts in the bottom 10 and Swift performing well in her recent battles. Taking a win by 35 votes, Swift climbs 171 places so far this week into 42nd, whilst Roberts swiftly plunges into 3rd last at 377th.
Grabbing my attention with the puns, it's u/dal3y42x
I'm gonna make this short and Swift.
Are you ready for it? Well, judging from the pictures, poor Emma Roberts doesn't look like it. And it doesn't look like Julia Roberts' niece has the "Nerve" to "shake off" the sheer talent of Taylor Swift.
With that said, it's Taylor Swift by a landslide.
League 5B
Two of my favourites on CBL: Jenna for both the Doctor Who background (she looked great in her outfits in that show!) and Emma for those eyes. I barely focused on Spider-man in those movies as I was waiting for Gwen to show! Anyway, I was again expecting this to go a particular way and was found wrong in the voting as Stone won by 14 votes. I can't complain too much as I'm pleased that she is slowly climbing back up the WR (to 45th) but seeing Coleman drop 17 places into 316th doesn't seem right.
u/tobaccoroadeagle put this rather eloquently:
emma gets the pick here for her versatility and ability to align herself with any role. plus her smoldering look and fiery aura are difficult to beat in this level of the competition
Transitional League
It is becoming increasingly h(e)ard not to mention current affairs when referring to Amber in her match ups. It is obvious that she is having trouble obtaining the votes due to the situation with her and Depp, however, it does seem that her lack of popularity is waning on CBL as she managed to get a decent number of votes against her opponent, only losing by 8 and only missing out on the league draw by 2 votes! MEW stays static in 347th whilst Heard climbs up 2 ranks to 369th!
u/TheClockwork0 may have deduced u/haikrut's motives, but it worked:
MEW is amazingly beautiful with a unique look. Amber has killer curves. The herd will vote against her and her competition with Win instead.
Conference Premier A
Elle Fanning appears to draw battle with the delicate but deadly appearance in her photo whilst Arterton looks like she would take no nonsense in her pic. Both with differing attractive qualities but it seems the tougher approach won by 15 votes, climbing 5 places into 30th, whilst Fanning plummets 24 to 349th.
u/Buck_Up_Man went for the underdog:
I'm not familiar with Gemma at all, so I'm purely going off the picture here, and there's nothing there that puts her over Elle for me. Elle still gets my vote
Conference Premier B
...saw too bikini'd babes against each other in the final of the day's matchups. Kerr looking like a very naughty woman as she leans forward, whilst Guilmant, her face making her appear slightly stoned, appears to be drawing in the viewer like lights on a runway. With 64 more votes, the winner was clearly Kerr who climbed 2 places into 5th (in what is her 6th 1v1 battle on CBL!). Guilmant on the other hand, also on 6 1v1s, stays static at the other end in 367th.
Feeling u/ic_fury's pain here:
Nice Bikini Battle! Miranda Kerr has a nice body and a sweet face. However, Alejandra Guilmant is wearing a skimpier bikini looking gorgeous. Even though her name is harder to spell, Alejandra Guilmant has my vote! (Thank goodness for "copy/paste"!

Quote of the Day
I noticed a distinct lack of u/Turtle123712 when typing this up. I have assumed that he has taken a day off to give others a chance with the puns. Hoping everything's ok!
Once again I have enjoyed reading through the comments and had I had more time during the day, I would have engaged with them myself. Please do enter into conversation with your fellow CBL members - I count replies too!
What caught my eye the most for R5 D3's comments was u/100sexiestBEL's incredibly accurate prediction with the score. I use an algorithm to estimate expected percentage shares of the vote to assist with point increases on the WR, but 100's system worked almost too well! If there was a free Nostradamus medal, I'd award you with that, but for now it's 50 bonus tokens.
Top 10
Getting over excited, I thought Emma had knocked out Kendrick from the top 10 completely when I had performed the updates to the WR. However, I was looking at the cell number column on the left, not the actual rank numbers. Either way, I don't think anyone would have predicted such a drop in one season!
With the scores of Mila Kunis and Kate Beckinsale to go on tomorrow (I don't get to see the results myself until they're ready) then I'm interested to see how the top 10 will look!
What are your thoughts on the day's rankings? Any surprises? How do we think the top 10 will look by the end of the season?

2020.09.03 22:19 Mnemosense I just watched Amazon's Homecoming (Mr Robot's Sam Esmail). A classic binge-worthy mystery.

I was expecting quality TV just from the name of the showrunner, Mr Robot's Sam Esmail, and I was not disappointed. Full of creative direction and editing, and great performances from the ever entertaining Bobby Cannavale, the always dependable Shea Whigham and Julia Roberts.
The show explores thought-provoking themes wrapped in the guise of a mystery drama that gets more tense with each bite-size episode (30 mins each, told you it's binge-worthy!).
One aspect that blew my mind was the scenes filmed with black vertical bars on either side of the image, rather than the traditional horizontal bars at the top and bottom. This leads to some really memorable 'vertical cinematography', if it can even be called that.
I highly recommend this show, if it's on your backlog, push it up! I haven't watched the second season yet, hope it keeps up the quality.

2020.09.02 03:34 SimpZillaMaker If the Five main Titan's of the Monsterverse had voices, who would you cast?

This my opinion.
Keanu Reeves, as Godzilla.
Julia Roberts, as Mothra. (Specifically Her Voice as Charlotte in the 2008 Charlotte's Web film was great and I think it fits this version of Mothra.)
Joe Pesci, as Rodan.
David Kaye, as Ghidorah (Center Head.)
Gary Oldman, as Ghidorah (Right Head.)
Jim Carrey, as Ghidorah (Left Head.)
Jason Momoa, as Kong.

2020.09.01 18:24 DParks247 Movie Talk Day 43: What is your favorite movie prosthetic?

Introduction
I thought it would be fun to start some discussions from a family card game, Movie Talk, which I never got to play with my family. The fortieth card I pulled said:
“Many actors are known for a certain physical feature. Groucho Marx kept his trademark black greasepaint mustache for all his films, even though producers said it looked “too phony.” Julia Roberts is famous for her toothy smile, and Angelina Jolie for her full lips.
What is your most distinguishable feature or characteristic?”
This is the twenty-sixth question in the cards that I’m going to change in favor of making it more “movie” related. I’m changing the question to: What is your favorite movie prosthetic?
Robert Englund’s Freddy Krueger looks fairly consistent throughout the franchise, with the most change occurring in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. The look may not be exactly how a burn victim would look, but it’s iconic, creepy, and works well with Englund’s face to portray his actual emotions.
Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. I say this movie specifically because the makeup for Jason incorporates all of Jason’s old wounds from throughout the franchise. It’s a very clever touch and makes for an amazing, scary look. It doesn’t look too bulky or unbelievable and Kane Hodder nails it under the makeup and gives the prosthetics life.
The full body makeup for Mystique in the X-Men movies is very impressive on both Rebecca Romjin and Jennifer Lawrence. While it was a bit more sparing on Jennifer Lawrence, it was really impressive in the first three X-Men movies, it looks amazing and is impressive for being full body makeup and not impeding on Romjin’s ability to maneuver or emote.
Honorable Mentions: The Work of Tom Savini: I’d feel wrong if I didn’t mention the prosthetic work that Savini has done. If you’d like to see a great example of his body of work I would recommend watching the documentary Smoke and Mirrors: The Story of Tom Savini, which I watched fairly recently on Shudder.
Just like the last few days, there are SO MANY that I would like to add that I couldn't because it would make my list too long. Prosthetics are just so cool!
TLDR: What is your favorite movie prosthetic?

2020.09.01 09:04 youngbull316 If all generations were 18-19 years

Probably goes like this, based on how S&H and others grouped the generations:

Lost: 1890-1908 (parents to members of GI's and Silents; children to Progressives and Missionaries)
Older Lost: 1890-1895 (100% Lost, the "true" group, even though they are the older group numerically, based on S&H are grouped in the middle)
Famous people: Dwight D. Eisenhower, Colonel Sanders, Babe Ruth, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, etc.
Middle Lost: 1896-1902 (the numerical "core" of the Losts, but might have the first signs of any GI traits)
Famous people: Paul Robeson, Amelia Earhart, Walt Disney, Louis Armstrong, Charles Lindberg, Emma Morano, Duke Ellington, Al Capone, etc.
Younger Lost: 1903-1908 (still mostly Lost but have significant GI traits, to the point where at times might be the majority)
Famous people: Lyndon B. Johnson, Dr. Seuss, Lou Gehrig, etc.

GI's: 1909-1927 (parents to members of Silents and Baby Boomers, rarely Generation X; children to Missionaries and Losts)
Older GI's: 1909-1914 (barely have any Lost traits remaining, almost fully GI)
Famous people: Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Rosa Parks, Jesse Owens, Gerald Ford, Joe DiMaggio, etc.
Middle GI's: 1915-1921 (probably 100% GI and the absolute representation of the generation, still too early for any sign of Silent traits)
Famous people: John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, David Rockefeller, Roald Dahl, Ella Fitzgerald, Jackie Robinson, etc.
Younger GI's: 1922-1927 (still very GI but have significant Silent traits)
Famous people: Betty White, Stan Lee, Red Foxx, Charles Schulz, Mae Young, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Malcolm X, Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Bush, Marilyn Monroe, Hugh Hefner, Queen Elizabeth II, Andy Griffith, Jerry Stiller, William Daniels, etc.

Silents: 1928-1945 (parents to members of Baby Boomers and Generation X, rarely Millennials; children to Losts and GI's)
Older Silents: 1928-1933 (older Silents, barely have GI traits, almost fully Silent)
Famous people: Shirley Temple, Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King, Jr., Fred Rogers, Adam West, Joe Jackson, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Anne Frank, Clint Eastwood, Neil Armstrong, Regis Philbin, Johnny Cash, Gene Wilder, Joan Rivers, etc.
Middle Silents: 1934-1939 (Basically 100% Silents, but the younger group possibly have very slight Boomer traits)
Famous people: Bill Russel, Elvis Presley, Dalai Lama, Wilt Chamberlain, Bruno Sammartino, Bill Cosby, Jane Fonda, Jerry West, Pope Francis, John McCain, Morgan Freeman, George Carlin, Kenny Rogers, Ben E. King, Oscar Robertson, Marvin Gaye, John McArthur, Lee Harvey Oswald, etc.
Younger Silents: 1940-1945 (Still Silents, especilally due to being born during the war, not after it, but have strong Boomer traits)

Baby Boomers: 1946-1964 (parents to members of Generation X and Millennials, rarely Generation Z/Homelanders; children to GI's and Silents)
Older Baby Boomers: 1946-1951 (the proverbial "core" of Boomers and what most people think of when you're talking about "Baby Boomers" but nonetheless still have some Silent traits)
Famous people: Donald Trump, Dolly Parton, Freddy Mercury, Sylvester Stallone, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Cher, David Bowie, Hilary Clinton, Arnold Schwarznegger, Elton John, Samuel L. Jackson, Prince Charles, Ozzy Osbourne, Meryl Streep, Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Ric Flair, Dr. Phil, Bill Murray, Stevie Wonder, Robin Williams, Ben Carson, Phil Collins, Kurt Russell, etc.
Middle Baby Boomers: 1952-1958 (the actual "core" of Boomers, in-between zone for Post-War Boomers born in the late 40's-early 50's and Generation Jones born in the late 50's-early 60's, 100% Baby Boomer)

Generation X: 1965-1983 (parents to members of Millennials and Generation Z/Homelanders, and rarely the post-Homeland generation; children to Silents and Baby Boomers)
Older Xers: 1965-1971 (the "Brat Pack" cohort that grew up in the 70's and came of age in the 80's and were the main target audience for many Gen X coming of age films during the 80's, were in the past considered to be the peak of Gen X, but now are the older group, still strongly X but might have some remaining BoomeJones traits)
Famous people: Robert Downey, Jr., The Undertaker, J.K. Rowling, Dr. Dre, William Zabka, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Charlie Sheen, Shawn Michaels, Ben Stiller, Scottie Pippen, Mike Tyson, Adam Sandler, Gordon Ramsay, David Schwimmer, Halle Berry, Janet Jackson, Rick Astley, Vin Diesel, Matt LeBlanc, Kurt Cobain, Will Farell, Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Jimmy Kimmel, Mark Ruffalo, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, LaVar Ball, Will Smith, Hugh Jackman, Celine Dion, Tony Hawk, Kurt Angle, Terry Crews, Owen Wilson, LL Cool J, Tracy Morgan, Gary Coleman, Phil Lewis, Molly Ringwald, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jay Z, Jennifer Aniston, Triple H, Paul Rudd, P Diddy, Matthew Perry, Mariah Carey, Melania Trump, Queen Latifah, Taraji P. Henson, Shane McMahon, Chris Jericho, Ted Cruz, DMX, Shawn Wayans, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Elon Musk, Mark Walhberg, Winona Ryder, etc.
Middle Xers: 1972-1977 (Basically 100% X, Boomer influence is long gone and Millennial influence is not really around this group much, the actual "zeitgeist" of Gen X, grew up in the 80's and came of age in the 90's, around the time Grunge (the quintessential Gen X music genre) was most popular and before the internet broke out to new lengths with Windows 95, revolutionizing how we interact with each other)
Famous people: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Shaquille O'Neal, Sofia Vergara, Big Show, Ben Affleck, Marlon Wayans, Gabrielle Union, Paul Walker, Edge, Pharrell, Tyra Banks, Neil Patrick Harris, Seth McFarlane, Jim Parsons, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jimmy Fallon, Rey Mysterio Jr., Lil Kim, Derek Jeter, Nelly, Ryan Seacrest, Christian Bale, Boogie2988, Sia, DJ Khaled, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, 50 Cent, Fergie, will.i.am, Drew Barrymore, Tiger Woods, Tobey Maguire, Chadwick Boseman (RIP), Will Friedle, Fred Savage, Ryan Reynolds, Candace Cameron-Bure, Reese Witherspoon, Peyton Manning, Rick Ross, Chester Bennington, Blake Shelton, John Cena, Kanye West, Shakira, Tom Brady, Psy, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Brock Lesnar, Donald Trump Jr., AJ Styles, Jason Earles, Jerry Trainor, Jeff Hardy, Steve Aoki, John Green, etc.
Younger Xers: 1978-1983 (the caboose of Gen X, in-between X and Millennial with strong Millennial traits but overall still leaning toward the X side, came of age after Windows 95 during the late 90s-early 00s, when pop culture was still X-oriented but quickly shifting in favor of Millennials, but before 9/11, in which changed the atmosphere of not only America but the whole world (even though it was a US event)

Millennials: 1984-2002 (parents to members of Generation Z/Homelanders and the post-Homeland Generation; children to the Baby Boomers and Generation X)
Older Millennials: 1984-1990 (the rise of Millennials, came of age right after 9/11, sometime in the 2000's, got to vote for either Bush, Obama, or both, and are probably the most liberal cohort of Millennials, compared to the middle and younger Millennials that possibly have a mix of liberals and conservatives, they have strong Millennial traits so while some of them have X traits, it is kinda weak compared to the Millennial traits that they have)
Famous people: Khloe Kardashian, Eric Trump, Lebron James, Katy Perry, Scarlett Johansson, Avril Lavigne, Prince Harry, Ben Shapiro, Aubrey Plaza, T-Pain, Carmelo Anthony, Mark Zuckerberg, Lauren London, Christiano Ronaldo, Jeffree Star, Bruno Mars, Ashley Tisdale, Roman Reigns, Raven-Symoné, Nipsey Hussle, J Cole, Lana Del Rey, Dean Ambrose, Anna Kendrick, Drake, Lady Gaga, Jenna Marbles, Josh Peck, Drake Bell, Robert Pattinson, Ashley Olson, Mary-Kate Olson, Seth Rollins, Megan Fox, Lindsay Lohan, Lea Michele, Usain Bolt, Shia LaBeouf, Zac Efron, Lionel Messi, Blake Lively, Shay Mitchell, Michael B. Middle Millennials: 1991-1996 (the zeitgeist of Millennials, basically 100% Millennial, even if there are any sort of Z traits, it's not strong within this group, came of age after the Great Recession and 2008 election but prior to Gamergate, ISIS, etc. First election was either during the Obama or Trump elections)
Famous people: Ninja, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, Joey Graceffa, Amanda Cerny, Gabbie Hanna, Azzyland, Tyler the Creator, Fetty Wap, DaBaby, Quavo, Tyler Posey, Shailene Woodley, Jamie Lynn Spears, Emma Roberts, Selena Gomez, Cardi B, Cole Sprouse, Miley Cyrus, Austin McBroom, SSSniperWolf, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Travis Scott, Dylan Sprouse, Mac Miller, Taylor Lautner, Ariana Grande, KSI, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Debby Ryan, Meghan Trainor, Victoria Justice, Sofia Carson, Miranda Cosgrove, Lucas Cruikshank, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, Lil Uzi Vert, Camila Mendes, Halsey, Caspar Lee, Madelaine Petsch, Lil Baby, Logan Paul, Kendall Jenner, Ross Lynch, Timothée Chalamet, Post Malone, Gigi Hadid, Queen Naija, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, David Dobrik, Tom Holland, RiceGum, Lele Pons, Zendaya, Liza Koshy, Dove Cameron, Alissa Violet, 6IX9INE, Lili Reinhart, Noah Centineo, etc.
Younger Millennials: 1997-2002 (the caboose of Millennials, in-between Millennial and Gen Z/Homelander, having strong Gen Z traits, but still overall leaning toward the Millennial side of things, came of age before and during Covid-19, born around the new millenium and 9/11, during the Clinton and Bush administrations, first elections will all be while Trump is running for president, were kids and preteens during the recession and adolescents during the Obama administration, and born before the establishment of Homeland security, which is one of the reasons why they are all Millenials)
Famous people: Kylie Jenner, Jake Paul, Lonzo Ball, Camila Cabello, Nash Grier, Bella Thorne, KJ Apa, Becky G, Jacob Elordi, DDG, Infinite, Kodak Black, Lil Yachty, Olivia Holt, Kira Kosarin, Simone Biles, Blueface, Shawn Mendez, XXXTentacion, Brent Rivera, Tana Mongeau, Juice WRLD, Peyton List, Mr Beast, Jaden Smith, Tfue, Liangelo Ball, China Anne McClain, Peyton Meyer, Bradley Steven Perry, Khalid, James Charles, Madison Beer, Karan Brar, Grayson Dolan, Ethan Dolan, Sabrina Carpenter, Cameron Boyce, NBA Youngboy, Lil Nas X, Joey King, Addison Rae, Baby Ariel, Lil Pump, Jace Norman, Woah Vicky, Joshua Bassett, Kiera Bridget, Noah Cyrus, Willow Smith, Haley Pham, Meg Donnelly, Griffin Gluck, Dixie D'Amelio, Billie Eilish, Noah Beck, Emma Chamberlain, Morgz, Chloe Lukasiak, Nia Sioux, Rowan Blanchard, Isabela Merced, Hannah Meloche, Caleb McLaughlin, Lamelo Ball, Jacob Sartorious, Chase Hudson, Loren Gray, Maddie Ziegler, Asher Angel, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Skai Jackson, Jenna Ortega, Malu Travejo, NLE CHOPPA, Lil Tecca, etc.

Generation Z/Homelanders: 2003-2021 (parents to members of the post-Homeland Generation and onward; children to Generation X and Millennials)
Older Homelanders: 2003-2008 (the rise of the Homelanders, are probably 100% Gen Z because they have very strong Gen Z traits but possibly still have some lingering Millennial traits, especially those in the very beginning; came of age during or after the Covid-19 pandemic, born during the Bush administration and after the establishment of Homeland security, which is the main reason for them being Homelanders, the oldest in K-12, being in middle and high school during the new CDC laws this new school year, and will not be able to vote until there is a brand new president in office come 2024 at the earliest)
Famous people: Jojo Siwa, Cash Baker, Matty B, Johnny Orlando, Sophia Grace Brownlee, Aidan Gallagher, Lizzy Greene, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli D'Amelio, Annie LeBlanc, Mackenzie Ziegler, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Lauren Orlando, Grace VanderWaal, Ellie Zeiler, Lebron James Jr., Sky Katz, Casey Simpson, Francesca Capaldi, Sofia Wylie, Addison Riecke, Mace Coronel, EvanTubeHD, Honey Boo Boo, Ella Anderson, Isaac Ryan Brown, Gianna Bryant, Rosie McClelland, Ruby Rube, Barron Trump, McKenna Grace, Ava Kolker, Adelia Rose, Mason Ramsey, Trinitee Stokes, Ariana Greenblatt, August Maturo, Elias Harger, Malachi Barton, Jason Maybaum, Hayley LeBlanc, Mia Talerico, JillianTubeHD, etc.
Middle Homelanders: 2009-2014 (100% Homelander, the zeitgeist of the generation, too early to possess any new generation traits; born during the Obama administration, being the youngest group in K-12 during the coronavirus pandemic outbreak last school year, so they are the last to truly, vividly remember life before it but grow up mainly after it and will probably all start high school long after this is all over, some of the last to actually remember life before the 2016 election)
Famous people: Gavin Thomas, Christiano Ronaldo Jr., Riley Curry, Blue Ivy Carter, North West, etc.
Younger Homelanders: 2015-2021 (the caboose of Homelanders who are in-between Z and the next generation, having strong traits of the next generation while still primarily being apart of Gen Z; don't remember life before President Trump, and barely know life before the coronavirus, especially since none of them were yet in kindergarten preceding it, largely born during the tail end of the Obama and Trump administration)
Famous people: TBD (Too young to analyze)

2020.09.01 06:20 autobuzzfeedbot 19 Facts About Classic '90s Movies That'll Have You Saying "Did You Know" Next Time You Need An Ice Breaker

  1. The iconic scene in Clueless where Cher is being mugged and hesitates lying on the ground because she is wearing an Alaïa dress is actually inspired by something that really happened.
  2. Leonardo DiCaprio regrets that he had to turn down the role of Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights in order to star in Titanic.
  3. The song "A Whole New World" was actually a last-minute addition to Aladdin. It was added after the character of Aladdin's mom was removed from the film.
  4. In Forrest Gump, Kurt Russell provided the voice of Elvis Presley.
  5. Someone at Pixar accidentally deleted all the work that had been done on Toy Story 2 — while the film was in production — from the studio's internal computer server. It was only saved because the film's supervising technical director had been on maternity leave and working from home (which meant there was a copy of the film that existed outside Pixar's internal servers).
  6. Harrison Ford turned down the role of Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park.
  7. In A Goofy Movie, it's often assumed that Powerline was modeled after Bobby Brown; but he is actually a combination of Prince, Michael Jackson, and Bobby Brown.
  8. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is actually a bit of a spinoff of a 1988 comedic play titled Ladies’ Room — in which Romy and Michele appear as minor characters.
  9. The classic scene where Robin Williams' character Daniel hides his face in the cake frosting in Mrs. Doubtfire took over 50 takes to get right.
  10. Kevin Costner wrote a sequel to The Bodyguard that would have starred Princess Diana.
  11. Jodie Foster had to really fight for the role of Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs. The film's director, Jonathan Demme, didn't think she could play a convincing FBI agent and instead wanted to cast Michelle Pfeiffer.
  12. The rumor that Janet Jackson demanded that Tupac Shakur get an HIV test before he kissed her for their film Poetic Justice is completely false.
  13. There wasn't supposed to be any snow in Home Alone, but after a blizzard hit on the second day of filming it forced the filmmakers to add snow to all the other scenes for continuity.
  14. Danny Elfman actually wrote all the songs for The Nightmare Before Christmas before there was even a script.
  15. Warren Beatty who directed and starred in 1990's Dick Tracy, used only seven colors when making the film.
  16. Julia Roberts was the one who convinced Richard Gere to costar with her in Pretty Woman (which he had initially turned down). In fact, she flew to New York to meet with him one-on-one, and during their meeting she took a piece of paper and wrote on it. She then turned it around and it said, "Please say yes," to which, of course, he said yes.
  17. Bruce Willis was a huge fan of Reservoir Dogs and wanted to work with Quentin Tarantino — and reportedly wanted the lead role of Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction (which he had heard about from Harvey Keitel). Unfortunately, by the time he met Quentin, the role had already gone to John Travolta.
  18. In an early version of The Lion King, Scar ends up raising Simba (after he kills Mufusa).
  19. And finally, James Cameron did not want "My Heart Will Go On" to be in Titanic because he thought the movie was too epic and didn't need a pop song in it.

Shoutout to u/Whiteyak who made this thread two years ago. As somebody who loves film music, and wasn't posting on this reddit then, I decided to keep it going as an experiment, and because a lot has changed then in terms of the movies covered, and who’s composed the films they’ve talked about.
As you can see, a lot can change in two years. Williams is still #1, but now Elfman is now #2 largely thanks to the Tim Burton miniseries. As for the rest, certain directors will boost other composers, for example Alan Silvestri will probably end up at #2 after the Zemeckis miniseries wraps, like how Hisashi shot up real high because they did the Miyazaki series.

2020.08.24 17:35 spideyok Summary of all the announced or rumoured Sony/Marvel projects

Hey guys, after the recent announcement I have decided to collate all of the the announced/rumoured/cold projects to try and give us a better guess of what the future could possible hold, especially given Sony apparently has the next 7-8 years of marvel movies and television planned out already.

Officially Slated Projects

Announced Projects

Directed by Olivia Wilde, Written by Katie Silberman, who also wrote Booksmart for Wilde’s directorial debut.
It was also reported by Charles Murphy that Sony were looking for actresses aged 25-35 to play the lead role of Jessica Drew.
Directed by S.J. Clarkson, No writer attached. A list of possible actors include Amy Adams and Charlize Theron.
Meaning the script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless is most likely off the table and a new writers needed to be attached.
The main character is also most certainly going to be Julia Carpenter, rather than an entire movie spent with the equivalent of watching old granny in her chair.. It is a not a huge leap to suggest that this will setup or allow for the possibility of a live action Spider-Verse also.
Directed by J.C. Chandor, Written by Richard Wrenk, Art Macum and Matt Holloway.
The rewrites mean Richard Wenk’s comments on the movie may be outdated, however I very much would still expect Spider-Man to show up in it.
No director yet to be attached, written by Marc Guggenheim.
No director attached, written by Robert Orci.. This very well could be one of the projects under the rumoured section or even something entirely different.
All female movie centered on Spider-Gwen. Directed by Lauren Montgomery, Written by Bek Smith.

Expected Projects

The trades confirmed both a 3rd and 4th Spider-Man movie to be in the works after the Sony/Marvel split. I can’t find the source so if anyone has it, that would be great and I’ll add it in.
Most certainly the Spider-Man/Venom crossover that was confirmed to be the long game by Ruben Fleischer. As well as it being something teased prominently by Tom Hardy as well as casting grids apparently being leaked that showcase a possible cameo in Venom 2 for Spider-Man.

TV Shows

It was announced in April 2019 that Lord and Miller were creating live action marvel shows for Sony, the last update being in August of 2019, where it appears that the shows have already planned out (at least what projects are the ones being developed.
Sony have also said that there are 5-6 shows currently in the works, where they end up releasing is unknown though. Presumably made with the intention of connecting to the movies at some point.

Cold Projects

Whilst the project originally died with the TASM universe, Amy Pascal has expressed an interest in returning to the project. and Drew Goddard has also been publicly open to returning to the project.
Another project that ended up cancelled, however the former director of the movie Gina Prince-Bythewood has said that she’s open to returning to the project and will have talks with Sony to make the movie again.
There was also comments from her that suggested that the project being turned into a tv show was a possibility which corresponds with previous rumours about that possibility.
Whilst originally having Spike Lee attached to direct, though he has since departed from the project. With no news on it coming since.
It was announced in June 2018 that are Silk movie was in the works, but there has been no public developments on the project made since. The likelihood of her getting her own movie franchise likeley drecreasing with Jessica and Julia getting movies of their own, maybe a tv show?

Rumoured Projects

Rumoured by Illuminerdi.
Rumoured by Illuminerdi.
Rumoured by Illuminerdi.
Sequels should also likely be expected for all movie projects who are successful at the box office.
If there’s anything I’ve missed, please comment it and I’ll add it in.
